VANESSA DU PLESSIS

Vanessa du Plessis is currently working for Lurco Group as a CSI Co-Ordinator. Besides assisting in various projects, social facilitation and report writing, she also does impact assessment and stakeholder engagement. Vanessa’s expertise lies in community development, specialising in early childhood development.
Vanessa’s love for children has motivated her to grab every opportunity to make a difference in underprivileged children. In her last year of completing her degree, she developed an age and gender appropriate sex education booklet aiding young children in understanding how their bodies work as well as keeping them safe from harm. She is also passionate about the emotional and cognitive wellbeing of young children; hence she is involved in neurofeedback therapy.
Vanessa’s core values and beliefs in following Bible principles is fundamentally what makes her who she is. Her teaching and psychology background, hand in hand with her passion for children drives her to ensure that maximum positive impact is achieved, even if it is one person at a time.

Zandile’s expertise lies in community development, corporate social investment management, training, research, social facilitation, proposal writing, impact assessment & evaluation and stakeholder engagement among others.
She has acquired experience at different institutions, having worked for an academic institution (University of KwaZulu Natal) where she was responsible for coordinating research projects, developing tools and monitoring research projects. Zandile also worked for a District Municipality (Amajuba District in Newcastle), where her responsibilities included: project formulation, project planning, implementation, budget planning and control, evaluations, performance management, and reporting.
She also worked for a large NPO (Siyakhula Trust) where she was responsible for team leadership, strategic planning, business plan development, and financial management, operational planning, designing tools for research work, situational analysis, designing MOU agreements, and reporting to the Board of Trustees. Zandile currently works for Lurco Group as the Corporate Social Investment Manager, her role is centered around the socio-economic development of mining communities in the targeted host communities.
